What's the story behind The Spikes Guy?
First, my name really is Guy. It's not short for anything or a nickname.
The Spikes part comes from the team I cover. The State College Spikes are a first-year minor-league team that plays in the New York-Penn League. I was hired by the Centre Daily Times in May, 2006 to cover the team after a four-year stint covering the Williamsport Crosscutters for the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.
From April to September, baseball is my No. 1 working focus. I enjoy everything about the gamel, incuding Myron Noodleman and retro celebrities. The most important date on my calendar, besides Opening Day, is Napoleon Dynamite Night.
